Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
- MMed in General Surgery (or Urology where applicable) from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
- Fellowship/sub-specialty training in Urology recognized by KMPDC.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Recognition as a specialist/sub-specialist by KMPDC.
- Retention in the KMPDC register.
- Valid Practice License from KMPDC.
- Valid Indemnity Cover.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage urological conditions using clinical evaluation, imaging, and endoscopic diagnostics.
- Perform urological procedures within credentialed scope (e.g., TURP, endourology, stone surgery, oncology, reconstruction).
- Coordinate peri-operative care and collaborate with nephrology, oncology, radiology, and anaesthesia.
- Provide inpatient/outpatient services and on-call support for urological emergencies.
- Implement protocols for infection prevention, stent tracking, and peri-operative safety.
- Participate in MDT tumour boards and case conferences.
- Teach and mentor trainees and contribute to service development.
- Engage in audits, registries, and research in urology.
