Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
  • MMed in General Surgery (or Urology where applicable) from an institution recognized by KMPDC.
  • Fellowship/sub-specialty training in Urology recognized by KMPDC.
  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Recognition as a specialist/sub-specialist by KMPDC.
  • Retention in the KMPDC register.
  • Valid Practice License from KMPDC.
  • Valid Indemnity Cover.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010


Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and manage urological conditions using clinical evaluation, imaging, and endoscopic diagnostics.
  • Perform urological procedures within credentialed scope (e.g., TURP, endourology, stone surgery, oncology, reconstruction).
  • Coordinate peri-operative care and collaborate with nephrology, oncology, radiology, and anaesthesia.
  • Provide inpatient/outpatient services and on-call support for urological emergencies.
  • Implement protocols for infection prevention, stent tracking, and peri-operative safety.
  • Participate in MDT tumour boards and case conferences.
  • Teach and mentor trainees and contribute to service development.
  • Engage in audits, registries, and research in urology.
