Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in Public Health or related field or extensive experience in managing large scale healthcare programs
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in planning, management, and implementation of immunization or health programs; this experience should be directly related to the field of immunization and health program management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for strengthening routine immunization systems; this includes understanding of the strategies and interventions that contribute to improving immunization coverage and ensuring the sustainability of immunization programs
  • Experience in understanding, communicating, and responding to immunization coverage data; ability to effectively communicate this data to relevant stakeholders and develop appropriate strategies to address any gaps or challenges identified
  • Experience in interpreting global immunization policies and guidelines and adapting them for implementation at the country level; this includes understanding the context and specific requirements of the country or region in which they have worked
  • Experience working in Northern Nigeria; a deep understanding of the political, social, conflict, and economic context of the region, which is essential for effective program planning and implementation
  • Proven track record of providing technical assistance and quality assurance for health programs, particularly in the public sector; this includes supporting the implementation of relevant health system strengthening strategies, tracking and coaching teams
  • Experience collaborating and coordinating with local, state, and national government agencies; ability to align program activities and results with national strategies and priorities, ensuring effective integration and coordination of efforts
  • Excellent diplomacy and stakeholder management skills; ability to effectively engage and communicate with a broad range of stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and international partners
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources; this includes analyzing complex data, identifying trends and patterns, and using this information to inform program planning and decision-making
  • Very good understanding of national immunization programs, primary health care, and health systems.; this includes knowledge of the key components, strategies, and challenges associated with these areas
  • Experience working with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), National Emergency Routine Immunization Coordination Centre (NERICC), and Ministry of Health (MOH) at both the national and subnational levels will be a plus; this includes collaborating with these organizations to strengthen immunization programs and establish strategic partnerships
  • Work mostly in Kano state with some travel to Abuja and other states
  • Fluent in Hausa language

    What You'll Do

    • In this role, you will support state-level coordination to enable implementation of defined Zero Dose interventions supporting partners who will own the implementation – tracking and monitoring key KPIs and facilitating discussions to progress interventions.
    • You will coordinate stakeholders including SERICC, partners, and other SPHCMB units as needed. You will manage a broad range of stakeholders including the DG, SPHCMB, and relevant Directors, to ensure alignment with goals, quick decision-making on resources, and supporting advocacy on key topics etc.
    • Furthermore, you will coach state representatives to enable continuous learning at all levels to ensure data-driven decision-making, rooted in a defined cadence and system for effective tracking and monitoring.
