Person Specification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years proven experience as a Site Engineer or similar role.
  • Professional membership in The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN)
    would be an added advantage
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and technical documents.

  • Current knowledge of industry trends, technology, codes, and regulations.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Exemplary critical thinking, analytical, and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management and project management skills.

  • Well-versed in technical aspects of field projects, including machinery and equipment.

Key Duties

  • Manage day-to-day construction activities at the project site, coordinating with various stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and project managers.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities on the construction site, including scheduling, planning, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct regular inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance of construction works.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including work progress, manpower, equipment usage, and any incidents or accidents
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, conducting regular safety inspections and implementing corrective measures as necessary.
  • Manage on-site personnel, including subcontractors, laborers, and tradespeople, to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
  • Communicate regularly with project management to provide updates on progress, challenges, and any deviations from the project plan.
  • Interpret and enforce project plans, specifications, and blueprints, ensuring that work is carried out according to design requirements and quality standards.
  • Coordinate deliveries of materials and equipment to the construction site, ensuring timely availability and proper storage.
  • Address issues or concerns raised by on-site personnel, resolving conflicts and maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Monitor and control project costs, tracking expenses, and identifying opportunities to optimize resources and minimize waste.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, clients, and regulatory authorities, to address project requirements and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate updates to stakeholders, including senior management and clients.
  • Maintain a detailed record of project activities, including progress reports, material usage, and manpower allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges and develop appropriate mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
  • Stay updated with industry advancements, construction technologies, and best practices to enhance project efficiency and quality.
