  • We are looking for a Junior Financial Analyst (based in Lagos) to support the Group Financial Controller (based in Cape Town) by analyzing financial data focusing on SaaS and other operating costs relative to the customer base and revenue, assisting with budgeting, and contributing to the financial reporting processes.

Key Duties

  • Reporting to and working closely with the Group Financial Controller, where your main areas of focus would be maintaining the SaaS management system and all related reporting. There will be benchmarking of various operating costs and preparing common size P&Ls.
  • SaaS Management: Working in the SaaS management tool to maintain, update ad and remove licenses. Work with the SaaS owners to prepare renewal packs. Extract and manipulate data from the platform to draw out key insights. Working with IS Admin to ensure all employees' emails are in sync.
  • Posting and expensing/amortizing of SaaS costs: working with the AP clerk and financial accountant to ensure that prepaid SaaS costs are correctly recorded and amortized according to usage.
  • SaaS cost management and budgeting: Analyzing the cost on a monthly basis identifying cost drivers and building this into the annual budget and forecast.
  • Operating cost review: decomposing the entire indirect cost base (excluding workforce planning) to facilitate actual to budget variance analysis. This will form the basis for bottom up budgeting with the department owners.
  • Benchmarking of costs: Using common sized P&L and market information to perform cost comparisons across the group.
  • Monthly reporting: Preparing monthly reporting packs at department level for actual vs budget analysis.
  • GL management: Ensuring that departmental reporting is up to date and that costs are correctly allocated.
  • Work Independently: as the role is based in Lagos, the individual will report into Group Financial Controller (based in Cape Town) with the dotted line reporting into local Management.
