Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Manuscript Evaluation and Editing:
Manuscript Evaluation and Editing:
- Review and evaluate manuscripts to assess content, organisation, clarity, and accuracy.
- Edit and proofread manuscripts to ensure adherence to editorial standards, grammar, style, and consistency.
Style and Guidelines Adherence:
- Implement and enforce editorial guidelines, company style guide, and industry best practices.
- Maintain consistency in style, tone, and voice across all publications.
- Good grasp of the Spectrum Brand and Spectrum Books products.
Collaboration with Authors and Writers:
- Collaborate closely with authors and writers to provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Communicate effectively to address queries and concerns while maintaining a positive working relationship.
Project Management:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and prioritizing workload effectively.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as layout designers and production, to ensure seamless workflow and timely publication.
Fact-Checking and Research:
- Conduct fact-checking and research to verify the accuracy of information presented in the manuscripts.
- Cross-reference sources and citations to maintain credibility and authenticity of the content.
Content Enhancement:
- Suggest and implement enhancements to improve the readability, engagement, and overall quality of the content.
- Provide recommendations for reorganisation or restructuring of content to enhance its impact.
Feedback and Training:
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices and share knowledge with the team.
Key Performance Indicators
- Maintaining a line of communication with new and existing authors.
- Preparing production quotations.
- Monitoring of printers and the production processes.
- Coordinating the yearly India reprint process
- Coordinating the UBEC titles files
- Coordination of the in-house processes for the reprint of regular titles.
- Coordinating and curating content to produce the Spectrum Books.
- Assessment of manuscripts.
