Requirements
- Hold a Master’s degree in Nutrition or public health and dietetics from a recognised
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within an INGO/NGO in managing, supervising and implementing community nutrition
- Strong knowledge of CMAM (OTP, SFP, community outreach, referrals)
- Experience in maternal, infant and young child nutrition.
- Experience implementing community nutrition programs with exposure to CMAM, MIYCN, IMAM surge or related interventions.
- Ability to design and deliver capacity-building programs through training, mentorship, and on-the-job coaching for staff at all levels.
- Experience in nutrition surveys and assessments
Responsibilities
1. Community Management & Coordination
- Provide strategic guidance for the decentralisation of services through community clinics, outreach systems, and alternative delivery platforms such as schools and Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS).
- Convene and support an integrated, multi-sectoral approach involving health, education, WASH, protection, and agriculture to ensure alignment of nutrition objectives across sectors.
- Engage community leaders and religious figures as “Nutrition Champions” to build trust, promote ownership, and support sustained nutrition-related behavior change.
2. Training & Capacity Building:
- Undertake capacity and training needs assessment of the team to identify existing gaps and guide the design and implementation of targeted training interventions
- Design and implement comprehensive capacity-building plans for staff, including Training of Trainers (ToT) for the health and nutrition team
- Facilitate the integration of MIYCN and MAMI protocols into capacity-building curricula for health facility staff to strengthen service delivery
- Participate in stakeholder meetings at the national, district and sub-county level as required by the supervisor
3. MEAL & Data Management:
- Oversee the program’s learning agenda and the production of evidence to guide future scaling of interventions
- Ensure the standardized application of data collection tools (e.g., DHIS2, tally sheets) to foster uniformity and comparability across regions
- Collaborate with the manager and team to review performance indicators (e.g., cure, death, and default rates) and jointly identify and implement corrective actions as needed
4. Reporting & Resource Management:
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting aligned with program objectives to support effective monitoring, learning, and evidence-based decision-making.
- Monitor and follow up on nutrition commodities to ensure adequate quantities, appropriate types, proper storage, and timely availability of specialized nutritious foods for community teams, in line with treatment and prevention protocols.
- Oversee and coordinate with relevant staff the implementation of the “Expanded Criteria” strategy during supply chain disruptions or rapid response operations.
