Qualification
- 1. A Honours Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Hons and Diploma in Legal Practice or its equivalent from (a) recognized Institution (s).
- 2. A Master of Laws (LLM).
- 3. Must be an enrolled advocate of the High Court of Uganda.
- 4. Must possess a valid Practicing Certificate.
- 5. Should have at least Seven (7) years work experience in a Higher Education Institution Or ten (10) years of experience as a Managing Partner of a law firm.
- 6. A valid Tax Clearance Certificate at the time of application from Uganda Revenue Authority.
- 7. Must be a citizen of Uganda aged below 55 years.
Responsibilities
- 1. Provide leadership and ensure efficient and effective management of the staff and resources in the Directorate of Legal Affairs.
- 2. Provide legal advisory and interpretation services to both Management and Council and ensure statutory compliance with the existing laws and regulatory requirements.
- 3. Review and draft contracts, agreements, and internal policies and ensure that they comply with all statutory or legal requirements.
- 4. Review progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.
- 5. Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise Management.
- 6. Prepare, negotiate, review, and draft documentation for business transactions and prepare and advise Management in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
- 7. Provide continuous leadership, supervision, training, and development of the Directorate of Legal Affairs and the staff, ensuring an effective and motivated team.
- 8. Provide legal protection and risk Management especially on contract management
- 9. Follow up and update the Principal on Court matters and attend Court hearings for and on behalf of the School.
- 10. Review and advise on MOUs between the School and other organizations including donors.
