Lecturer (Economics) - Full Time

Qualifications & Experience:

1. A Master of Arts in Economics or Economic Policy and Planning or a Master of Science in Quantitative Economics from a recognized institute of higher learning.

2. A Bachelor’s degree in Economics or related field from a recognized institution of higher learning.

3. At least two (2) years of University teaching experience at the level of Lecturer/ Assistant Lecturer or three (3) years teaching at Tutorial Assistant Level.

4. Should have undertaken a minimum of one academic research dissertation.

5. Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines; Evidence of ability to teach and to supervise academic work by undergraduates and graduates.

6. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

7. Proven record of ability to conduct high-quality research which is reflected in the authorship of high-quality publications, or other research outputs, in the area of economics.

8. Proven commitment to academic research, commitment to high-quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment for students, and commitment to continuous professional development.

9. Must be a committed and practicing Christian.

Main duties and responsibilities:

1. To teach in arears allocated by the Dean or Head of Department in each Semester.

2. To assess exams and other assignments like course work, mentoring and supervision of undergraduate research.

3. To engage in academic research and publication.

4. To engage with all scholarly and professional activities and events in the School.

5. To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.

6. To assist in the development of learning materials and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.

7. To provide student support in pastoral roles, counselling and career guidance.

8. Compliance with ODel guidelines.

9. To engage in community outreach programs.

10. Perform any other official duties as may be assigned from time to time.
