Professional competencies for this position:

  • Development Economics; Peace and Conflict Studies; or another relevant field

  • Minimum Five years’ experience in protection implementation and management of protection programs in an international, national, humanitarian/human rights organization

  • Experience from working with protection programming in a humanitarian/recovery context

  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.



Generic responsibilities

  1. These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.
  2. Management of project staff.
  3. Implement plan of action for delegated portfolio of Protection from Violence projects (activities, budget and project documentation).
  4. Day to day follow of progress in project implementation.
  5. Ensure compliance with NRC policies Protection from Violence tools, handbooks, and guidelines.

Specific responsibilities

  1. Provide overall technical oversite to respective protection officers across locations in Southwest and ensure streamlined delivery in the settlement and respective transit and reception centres in southwest.

  2. Provide technical and programmatic leadership to the protection Team in respect to project activities and ensure prudent utilization of, and accountability for resources allocated to the project.
  3. Support protection case management staff through the provision of technical support and guidance, including approval of case plans and sign-off on cash and in-kind assistance.

  4. Ensure that staff implement and respect best-practice and international standards in protection case management.

  5. Understand and follow up on activities and assess progress of implementation, provide solutions and report issues when needed in line with delegated authority and approved implementation plans.
