Risk Management Officer - Full Time

Qualifications and experience:

1. Masters’ Degree in Business Administration or Commerce or Management from a recognized insti-tution of higher learning.

2. Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration or Commerce or Management from a recognized in-stitution of higher learning.

3. A professional qualification in ACCA or CPA or CIA and a certificate in ISO 31000 Risk Manage-ment will be an added advantage

4. At least five (5) years’ work experience two of which must be performing similar tasks

OR

5. Bachelors’ Degree in Business Administration or Commerce or Management from a recognized in-stitution of higher learning.

6. Must have a certificate in ISO 31000 Risk Management.

7. A professional qualification in ACCA or CPA or CIA will be an added advantage.

8. At least five (5) years working experience performing similar tasks.

Other Specifications:

1. In depth understanding of Risk Management systems and procedures

2. Strong accounting and analytical skills

3. Proven knowledge of current Risk Management techniques and best practices.

4. Integrity and reliability

5. Must possess, written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills.

6. Must have advanced computer skills in MS Office, Accounting software like SAP and FOCUS.

7. Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports.

8. Demonstrate high standards of integrity, ethics, objective judgment and independence

9. Must be a committed and practicing Christian.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop a Risk Management Framework for the University

2. Develop the Enterprise Risk Management Policy for the University

3. Liaise with departmental heads in ensuring completion of departmental risk registers

4. Develop risk management system and train departmental risk champions on its implementation

5. Liaise with department and division heads on the adequacy of proposed actions in management of risk areas highlighted in internal audit reports

6. Evaluate the adequacy of the University’s internal control framework in addressing risks and ac-complishing the stated goals and objectives

7. Monitor implementation of action plans to ensure risk mitigation efforts are proceeding as re-quired.

8. Monitor and report on compliance with regulatory requirements

9. Proactively identify emerging risks and report the same to management and Audit and Risk management committee

10. Responsible for the monitoring and mitigation of all risks within the University.

11. Developing business continuity plans to limit risks

12. Establishing and quantifying the organization’s 'risk appetite', i.e. the level of risk they are pre-pared to accept;

13. Any other official duty as shall be assigned by the supervisor from time to time
