Uzapoint was founded by Abraham Mbuthia at Strathmore University while undergoing his Undergraduate studies for Bachelor in Business Information Technology. His startup journey for Uzapoint however started in October 2016 after he graduated with top honors at Strathmore University in July 2016. Initially, the company's focus was to offer a Distribution Management Solution for Manufacturing companies to track their sales representatives while selling in the field through a Mobile and Web Based Application. This was Abraham’s end of year school project which had attracted a lot of attention from some local manufacturers and distributors who included listed companies. The experience to work with some of these big companies exposed Abraham to the dynamics in the supply chain and consequently made him realize a huge gap in the supply chain. This gap existed with the informal retailers who couldn't afford technology to make their business process more efficient.
