The Billing Officer will be responsible for accurately processing patient billing information, coordinating insurance claims and ensuring timely payment collection.


Requirements

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Nursing, Clinical Medicine & Community Health or related field
  • At least three years of experience
  • Prior experience in medical billing and insurance claims processing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing billing information and maintaining patient records.
  • Ability to identify and resolve billing discrepancies, insurance claim rejections and other billing-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency in using billing software systems & Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, supporting colleagues and contributing to the overall success of the hospital’s billing operations.
  • Ethical Standards: Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in handling sensitive billing information.

  • Adhere to the Hospital’s Billing Protocol
  • Coordinate the billing process for services rendered to patients, including verifying patient information, generating invoices and submitting claims to insurance companies.
  • Daily submission of inpatient bills to clients in a timely manner
  • Verify patients’ insurance coverage and eligibility prior to billing, ensuring accurate billing information and timely reimbursement.
  • Follow up on outstanding claims and unpaid balances, contacting insurance companies and patients as necessary to resolve billing issues and facilitate payment collection.
  • Communicate billing information and payment options to patients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have about their bills.
  • Maintain accurate records of billing transactions, payment histories, and insurance claims, ensuring proper documentation and confidentiality of patient information.
  • Generate regular reports on billing activities & outstanding balances.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
