Job Summary

(i) Have a Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: Journalism, Mass
Communications, Public Relations or equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution;
(ii) Have a minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience;
(iii) Have extensive public relations experience;
(iv) Have experience in media, communications or journalism, corporate affairs and media
management;
(v) Have knowledge of branding principles and tactics;
(vi) Have sound written and verbal communications skills;
(vii) Be an expert in strategic and proactive leadership;
(viii) Possess creative and visionary leadership skills;
(ix) Show merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;
(x) Possess proven ability to design, develop and implement both communications and
strategic programs and supporting tactics;
(xi) Be a member of a professional body;
(xii) Be proficient in computer applications including knowledge in desktop publishing;
(xiii) Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Responsibilities

(i) Develop and implement strategic plans for corporate communications department;
(ii) Drive corporate strategy and message development, pitch and announcement
strategies;
(iii) Develop branding initiatives, internal communications and external media relations;
(iv) Determine communications strategy and execute programs to deliver communications
objectives throughout the organization;
(v) Develop communication strategies for delivery of corporate culture and business
strategy;
(vi) Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders to
ensure proper dissemination of information;
(vii) Manage media relations and maximize media opportunities;
(viii) Planning and executing the Council’s participation in key corporate events;
(ix) Developing web content and updating the website;
(x) Preparing and producing reports and other publications;
(xi) Identifying and recommending branding and publicity opportunities for the Council;
(xii) Establish a knowledge management system to facilitate continuity at each level of the
corporate communications department

Job Requirements

Required education: Bachelor's degree
Required relevant work experience: 5 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
