Overall purpose of the RoleAs a Finance Associate:


You will have the opportunity to apply your expertise in core accounting, GL reconciliation,

expense validation, payment processing, enforcement of finance policies and procedures, support external audits, and manage internal and external stakeholders.

You will play a pivotal role in advancing the capabilities of the finance

department by addressing the core accounting challenges and automating the manual processes. You will be expected to add value to the internal finance and operations team through your skills to enhance cost efficiency within the organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, explore recent technology changes in the accounting domain, and contribute to developing innovative solutions that have a tangible impact on company’s financial health.

Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and finance or related field.
  • 2+ Years of work experience
  • CPA with at least intermediate level qualification. 
  • Hands-on experience using an ERP System such as Oracle-NetSuite. 
  • Proven experience in core accounting activities. 
  • Basic knowledge of IFRS for SMEs will be an added advantage. 
  • Strong understanding of Project-based accounting and reporting. 
  • Demonstrated ability to use advanced Excel functions. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrates proactiveness. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. .
  • Demonstrable knowledge on tax regulations for multiple countries in Africa.
  • Previous experience in the NGO industry is an added advantage.

  • Capacity building of the operations team on the finance policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Expense validation to ensure compliance with the donor financial requirements and MDT LABS policies. 
  • Preparation of payment files and monthly/weekly tax schedules. 
  • Payment upload into the various payment systems i.e. straight2bank and mobile money payment systems. 
  • Preparation of bi-weekly cash management position and support in bank relationship management. 
  • Recording of all the weekly expenses on ERP System (Oracle NetSuite). 
  • Vendor relationship management. 
  • Reconciliation activities (bank, advance accounts, vendor, and intercompany payables). 
  • Asset register maintenance.
  • Support in financial month-end closing processes (revenue recognition, amortization, depreciation, accruals
    etc.) 
  • Support in managing external audits and program stand-alone audits. 
  • Support in other tasks as assigned on a need-basis.

  • Travel

    • 5% (some travel to the respective operations regions and international travel)

    • Contract Type : One (1) year fixed term contract (potential for renewal subject to performance and funding

      availability)
