Description
GIZ Proklima has been implementing various project in Kenya on behalf of the German Government and since 2012. The projects have supported Kenya in its ambitions to implement and ensure compliance with the provisions of the Montreal Protocol and it Kigali amendments. Over the last 10 years, GIZ Proklima focused more in introducing Green Cooling Technologies that are energy efficient and use natural refrigerants that are ozone, climate and environmentally friendly.
Activities under Proklima include Trainings of RAC technician, Green Cooling technology transfer, end of life management, among others.GIZ Proklima now has included a significant and urgent new focus on the management and destruction of ODS and HFC banks.
The international community has realized that even as we stopproducing new HCFCs and HFCs, billions of tons of CO2 equivalent remain trapped in existing equipment (banks). If these are vented during servicing or at the end of a machine's life, they negate much of the progress made by the phase-out. Key Objectives of Waste Management include but not limited to:
Emission Reduction by Preventing the "venting" (intentional release) of gases during equipment decommissioning.
