Role Overview
The Senior Manager, HR serves as an end-to-end generalist HR Business Partner (HRBP) for an assigned portfolio of BI MF subsidiaries across Africa and Asia, as well as designated Central Team functions. Operating within a matrixed HR model (linking entities with HR Centers of Excellence and Central Services), this role translates business strategy into actionable people solutions, builds local HR capabilities, manages organizational risk, and drives strategic talent initiatives to support sustainable impact and scale.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership: Lead the HRBP agenda for assigned entities and Central Team units. Partner with Entity Heads of HR, Microfinance Management Teams (MMTs), and Technical Leads to align people strategy with business priorities and drive consistent HR delivery across the portfolio.
Business & Workforce Effectiveness: Advise leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, restructuring, and change management driven by operational growth or transformation.
Leadership & Talent Management: Oversee succession planning, talent reviews, internal mobility, and leadership development, with a key focus on building inclusive pipelines (including women in leadership).
People Risk & Compliance: Identify and mitigate people-related risks (regulatory, audit, employee relations, conduct, culture). Ensure full execution of audit actions, policy compliance, and investigation outcomes.
Complex HR Advisory: Provide trusted advice to senior executives on sensitive employee relations, performance issues, and structural changes. Provide interim operational HR support during critical country transitions or capacity gaps.
Enterprise HR Integration: Serve as the strategic bridge between entity needs and HR Centers of Excellence (CoEs), contextualizing global HR tools and policies for local operations without duplicating CoE roles.
People Insights & Analytics: Utilize HR metrics and workforce dashboards to identify organizational trends, inform leadership decisions, and drive evidence-based workforce planning.
Safeguarding: Champion a proactive safeguarding culture across all levels. Oversee safeguarding policy implementation, lead focal point meetings, conduct training, and enforce strict reporting protocols.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification in HR/OD is desirable.
Certifications: Professional HR certification (e.g., IHRM, SHRM, CIPD, or international equivalent) preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of progressive generalist HR experience, including at least 3 years in a strategic HRBP role advising senior leaders.
Demonstrated background in financial services, microfinance, banking, fintech, or a similarly regulated, complex environment.
Proven experience operating across multi-country, matrixed, or geographically dispersed organizations.
Strong background in employee relations, organizational change, HR analytics, and local HR capacity building.
