We are urgently searching for a Livestock Officer for our Horticultural / Livestock farm in Naivasha. His / Her responsibilities will include diagnosing and treating diseases and dysfunctions of animals, research and development, sales and production of commercial products.


Responsibilities

We are urgently searching for a Livestock Officer for our Horticultural / Livestock farm in Naivasha. His / Her responsibilities will include diagnosing and treating diseases and dysfunctions of animals, research and development, sales and production of commercial products.


  • Examining animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries.

  • Treating sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, dressing wounds, or minor performing surgery.

  • Advising on good veterinary practices.

  • Collecting data and preparing reports on animal health, products and markets.

  • Providing advice on animal breeding and welfare.

  • Coordinating postmortem examination and other diagnostic tests when required.

  • Advising the Directors regarding sanitary measures, feeding, and general care necessary to promote health of animals.

  • Training, guiding, mentoring and supervising workers in the livestock department.

  • Establishing and conducting quarantine and testing procedures that prevent the spread of diseases to other animals.

  • Planning and executing animal nutrition and reproduction programs.

  • Inspecting animal housing facilities to determine their cleanliness and adequacy.

  • Advising on breed improvements.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Diploma of Veterinary Medicine.

  • Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board.

  • Minimum 5 years of extensive experience.

  • Strong general management, and staff management and demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Report writing skills.
