Description
EAWLS is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Marine Programme Officer to lead the implementation ofits marine conservation portfolio. The role focuses on project delivery, policy advocacy, stakeholderengagement, and resource mobilization to advance marine and coastal ecosystem conservation in theregion. The Marine Programme Officer will report the Manager - Policy Advocacy and Programmes.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science, Marine Conservation, Marine Ecology, Oceanography,
Environmental Science, Climate Studies, or related fields. Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Minimum three years of progressive professional experience in marine conservation, policy
advocacy, or related fields.
• Proven experience in policy analysis, advocacy, and participation in national or international marine
and climate forums.
• Experience in coordinating multi-stakeholder platforms, working groups, or consortia.
• Strong project management experience, including planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.Responsibilities
• Lead the design and implementation of marine conservation projects aligned with EAWLS strategic
priorities
• Conduct research, assessments, and analysis to inform programme design, policy positions, and
advocacy efforts
• Engage communities, government agencies, and partners to promote sustainable marine resource
management
• Support development and influence of marine and coastal policies at national and regional levels
• Coordinate and participate in stakeholder platforms, networks, and conservation forums
• Mobilize resources through proposal development, donor engagement, and partnership building
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on project performance, outcomes, and impact
• Develop technical reports, policy briefs, and communication materials to support programme
visibility and advocacy
• Build and strengthen partnerships with local and international organizations, research institutions,
and community groups
