The Assistant Director Research, Consultancy and Partnership at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) is responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, and review of research and innovation policies, strategies, and programmes. The role involves establishing local and international partnerships, identifying innovative trends, and overseeing the patenting and dissemination of research outputs. The position also entails managing research databases, reviewing proposals, and benchmarking best practices to enrich KISE's research and innovation agenda.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinating the development, implementation and review of research and innovation policies, strategies, procedures and plans
Developing modalities for collaboration with external researchers and research institutions
Identifying national, regional and international innovative trends that are relevant to KISE
Undertaking patenting of KISE research and innovations
Establishing both local and international partnerships to enrich research and innovative programmes
Coordinating the dissemination of research and innovation information
Coordinating the development of research and innovation programmes
Spearheading the preparation of research and innovation reports
Coordinating the development of the research and innovation database
Reviewing research agendas and tools
Reviewing research proposals and concept papers for research and innovation programmes
Monitor and review research and innovation programmes
Benchmarking on best practices on research and innovation
Coordinating the submission and documentation of innovations
Required Qualifications
Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing
Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution
Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: Special Needs Education, Engineering, Science, Social Sciences, Applied Research, Education Technology, Statistics, Economics or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized Institution
Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: Special Needs Education, Engineering, Science, Social Sciences, Applied Research, Education Technology, Statistics, Economics or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized Institution
Cumulative service period of twelve (12) years' relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been at the grade of Principal Research and Innovation Officer or in a comparable position.
