The Agri-Business Facility for Africa (ABF) is a regional BMZ-funded and EU co-financed project that strengthens agricultural value chains and supports the development of micro, small and medium-sized agri-food enterprises (MSMEs) across Africa.
The position is embedded in Output 2 – Competitive Matching Grant Fund (MGF), which promotes private-sector investments for the modernisation, climate resilience and sustainable transformation of selected agricultural value chains through co-financing grants. As part of the Output 2 core team, the position supports the implementation and management of the fund and its portfolio of grant projects.
Responsibilities
As a member of the output 2 core team, the post holder will be responsible for the following tasks:
Provide technical backstopping and advisory support to selected MGF partners, especially in Kenya. Ensure compliance with GIZ iDPP implementation agreements and support partners in addressing administrative, technical, operational and implementation
challenges.Coordinate institutionalization process of e-learning initiatives and contribute to financing and investment mobilisation for agricultural value chains through CAADP and CAP-F processes, including support to national agricultural investment planning and implementation.
Identify, document and systematise good practices and lessons learnt, particularly in the area of private sector engagement and cooperation. Contribute to the elaboration of knowledge products and learning formats for internal and external stakeholders.
Organisation and implementation
of international and regional events on good practices, cross-country
knowledge exchange and peer learning among MGF-supported consortia across
Africa, and policy dialogue, in close collaboration with the ABF team in
other countries.Carry out other duties and assignments as delegated by the ABF Management Team or line manager, in line with project and cluster needs.
Qualifications and Specialist Knowledge
Master's degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Sciences, Rural Development, Economics, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in international development cooperation, preferably in private sector development, agricultural value chain development, agribusiness promotion, investment facilitation, or related fields.
Proven experience in working with private sector actors, public institutions, development partners and multi-stakeholder partnerships, including policy advisory and stakeholder engagement processes.
Strong analytical, conceptual and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex issues into practical recommendations and implementation approaches.
Experience in knowledge management, capacity development, and the organisation and facilitation of workshops, peer-learning activities, policy dialogues and other stakeholder engagement formats.
Excellent communication, networking and coordination skills, combined with diplomatic tact, intercultural competence and the ability to work independently in a multicultural environment.
Excellent command of English is required; knowledge of French and/or German is highly desirable.
