Description
The role focuses on managing overall farm operations, including planning, budgeting, labor supervision, and crop development. It involves providing technical and administrative guidance, setting performance targets, collecting and analyzing crop data, and contributing to agricultural policy and strategy development. The position also covers technology dissemination, pest and disease management, stakeholder training, and preparation of technical, financial, and administrative reports.
(a) Job Specifications
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
Responsible for operations in the farm and agronomic practices
Farm planning and budgeting;
Management of farm Labour;
Providing technical and administrative guidance to staff in the farm;
Advising the technical team on matters pertaining to crops development;
Setting performance targets and goals for the farm;
Collecting and analyzing agriculture crop data for the development and review of agricultural policies, strategies and standards;
Packaging and dissemination of new and existing agricultural technologies;
Undertaking surveillance and control of trans-boundary and emerging crop pests, diseases and invasive species;
Training agricultural stakeholders and preparing reports on the same; and
- Preparing technical, financial and administrative reports.
(b) Person specifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
Minimum cumulative service period of three (3) years’ relevant experience in farm management.
Bachelors of Science degree in any of the following disciplines: -
General Agriculture; Seed science; Agriculture and Extension; Crop Protection/Science; Farm management and Horticulture from a recognized institution;
Proficiency in computer application skills.
