Description
This is a middle level in this cadre in the University and appointment shall be on such terms
and conditions as may be determined by the Council from time to time depending on age,
citizenship or any other reason as may be stipulated in the Kenyan Labour Laws.
Academic Qualification
The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Public Health/Environmental Health or
equivalent from an accredited and recognized institution.
Registered with the relevant regulatory body with a valid practicing license
Experience
· Be a member of relevant professional bodies
. Must have two (2) years of relevant work experience
· Worked in a higher institution of learning will be an added advantage
. Demonstrate community involvement (e.g. Member of BOG, SMC etc)


Responsibilities
. Conducting and demonstrating practical sessions with students in the laboratory
. Assist in planning for field attachments for the public health students
. Organizing for field trips for public health students to be oriented in food industries,
water treatment, premises inspection, meat inspection, port visits and other related
activities and processes
· Assist in maintenance of an updated inventory of consumables and non-consumables in
public health
. Trouble shooting for machine errors, general maintenance and internal calibration
· Supporting in departmental innovations, research and income generation activities
. Assist in ensuring the laboratory environment is safe
. Assist in budget preparation for teaching materials
. Performing any other duties as assigned by the Chairman of the department/supervisor
· Provide technical assistance to researchers
. Prepare and implement the use of SOPs in the laboratory
