Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, and skills-based sessions in Public Health to graduate and undergraduate students as allocated.
  2. Provide technical assistance in the design, development, review, and implementation of curricula and syllabi.
  3. Develop, moderate, and administer Examinations.
  4. Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
  5. Participate in internal and external moderation processes of university examinations
  6. Participate in departmental, faculty, and University committees.
  7. Support in developing work plans, schedules, and budgets.
  8. Contribute to quality assurance and accreditation processes for training resources and practice sites.
  9. Mentor junior academic staff, including graduate assistants, tutorial fellows, visiting lecturers, and adjunct faculty.
  10. Represent the department at academic and public engagements; and stakeholders forums
  11. Provide technical assistance in developing training guidelines, policies, and business plans.
  12. Support student recruitment, orientation, and onboarding at the departmental/school level.
  13. Conduct independent and collaborative research within an area of specialization.
  14. Apply for and manage research and health development grants.
  15. Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at academic conferences and seminars.
  16. Supervise postgraduate researchers (Master’s and PhD candidates) in proposal writing, thesis development and examination. Undertake identification of supervisors and examiners.
  17. Undertake accreditation, audits, and quality assurance activities
  18. Participate in departmental, school, and University committees, and support the in planning and budgeting

Qualifications

  1. PhD in Public Health (Health Management/Informatics) or a health related discipline from a recognized institution.
  2. Training in Health Informatics or Health Records or Health Management
  3. Registered with the relevant professional body, where applicable.
  4. Demonstrated evidence of postgraduate supervision and independent/collaborative research.
  5. Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.

Experience and Knowledge

  1. At least three (3) years of university teaching experience in Public Health/ Health Economics/ Health Management/ Health Informatics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  2. Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, development, and review.
  3. Demonstrated experience in postgraduate supervision (Master’s and/or PhD students).
  4. Experience reviewing postgraduate proposals, theses, and dissertations, and serving on academic committees.
  5. Experience in quality assurance, curriculum review, or accreditation is an added advantage.
  6. Sound knowledge of research methodology, research ethics, and academic integrity requirements.
  7. Familiarity with postgraduate policies, examination procedures, and higher education regulatory standards.
