Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and assess Pharmacognosy courses to Bachelor of Pharmacy.
  • Supervise student laboratory sessions in phytochemical screening, extraction, isolation, and characterization of natural products.
  • Develop and update laboratory manuals, course materials, and digital content for pharmacognosy and related subjects.
  • Participate in curriculum development, review, and program accreditation activities.
  • Secure research grants and engage in collaborative research projects.
  • Mentor students in academic and research activities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience:

  • A B.Pharmacy, M.Pharmacy in Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Natural Products), or a closely related field from a recognized/accredited university.
  • A PhD in Pharmacognosy or Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline, will be a distinct advantage.
  • At least three (3) years of university teaching experience in pharmacognosy or related areas.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Pharmacy and Poisons Board).

Personal Attributes & Competencies:

  • Strong background in laboratory techniques related to natural products research.
  • Proficiency in chromatographic and spectroscopic methods (TLC, HPLC, GC-MS, NMR).
  • Ability to integrate technology in teaching and research.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong mentorship and student engagement skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
