Key Responsibilities:
- Teach and assess Pharmacognosy courses to Bachelor of Pharmacy.
- Supervise student laboratory sessions in phytochemical screening, extraction, isolation, and characterization of natural products.
- Develop and update laboratory manuals, course materials, and digital content for pharmacognosy and related subjects.
- Participate in curriculum development, review, and program accreditation activities.
- Secure research grants and engage in collaborative research projects.
- Mentor students in academic and research activities.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience:
- A B.Pharmacy, M.Pharmacy in Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Natural Products), or a closely related field from a recognized/accredited university.
- A PhD in Pharmacognosy or Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline, will be a distinct advantage.
- At least three (3) years of university teaching experience in pharmacognosy or related areas.
- Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Pharmacy and Poisons Board).
Personal Attributes & Competencies:
- Strong background in laboratory techniques related to natural products research.
- Proficiency in chromatographic and spectroscopic methods (TLC, HPLC, GC-MS, NMR).
- Ability to integrate technology in teaching and research.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong mentorship and student engagement skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
