Livestock Manager (5 positions) - JOB REF: VA/4/9/2025

(a)Job Specifications

1. Providing technical and administrative guidance to staff in the farm or ranch;
   

2. Advising the technical team on matters pertaining to livestock production;
   

3. Disseminating livestock production technologies such as construction of livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin analysis and on- farm feed formulation;
   

4. Providing technical input for the implementation of various livestock production policies and strategies;
   

5. Setting performance targets and goals for the farm or ranch;
   

6. Implementing livestock production programs such as dairy cattle farming, beef cattle, sheep, goats and poultry.
   

7. Packaging and dissemination of new and existing livestock production technologies;
   

8. Undertaking surveillance and control of trans-boundary and emerging livestock parasites, diseases and invasive species;
   

9. Training livestock production stakeholders and preparing reports on the same; and
   

10. Preparing technical, financial and administrative reports.
    

1. Minimum cumulative service period of three (3) years’ relevant experience in farm or ranch environment;
   

2. Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: -
   

3. Animal Science, Animal Production, Range Management, Livestock production, from a recognized institution;
   

4. Proficiency in computer application skills;
