Monitoring, Evaluation and Communications Specialist - Food and Nutrition Security, Sudan
Description
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has commissioned the ‘Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with implementing the project “Strengthening Resilience through Food and Nutrition Security for Refugees and Host Communities in Sudan” under the “Special Initiative Displaced Persons and Host Countries”.
The project addresses four areas of intervention:
1) The project equips small-scale farmers with skills in climate-smart food production, enabling them to further process their harvests and add value. Emphasis is placed on women, who are disproportionately affected by discrimination, violence, and limited opportunities for social and economic participation.
2) To strengthen women’s income-generating opportunities, the project provides market-oriented support and capacity development in areas such as food processing and small business management.
3) The above activities are complemented by sensitization on improved nutrition and hygiene practices.
4) The promotion of peaceful coexistence and resilience at community level; i.e. fostering cohesion between internally displaced persons, refugees and host communities.
