About KEPSA
The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) is the apex body of the private sector in Kenya, established to drive economic development through year-on-year improvements in the business environment by addressing cross-cutting business issues, driving investments, and addressing socio-economic issues with partners. KEPSA brings together business associations, corporate bodies, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and start-ups to speak in one voice, working closely with the Government and other stakeholders through structured Public Private Dialogue (PPD) platforms and other engagement mechanisms.
The SMEs play a key role in Kenya by contributing 33.8% of the GDP, provides over 80% of employment opportunities and consists of over 90% businesses in the country. We collaborate with development partners, financial institutions, private sector and local business associations to provide tailored financial solutions and mentorship programs, fostering sustainable development. We aim to create a supportive ecosystem for SMEs, offering capacity-building initiatives, linkage to funding and markets, promotion of innovation and addressing policy issues to help them advance economically through opportunities such as the Jiinue Growth Program. KEPSA is seeking a highly motivated and creative Partnership and Business Development Intern to support mapping of business opportunities, proposal development, partnership engagement, and resource mobilization efforts, and support the SME team in implementation of activities to achieve the strategic goals.

1. Proposal Development & Resource Mobilization
Research potential business opportunities, calls for proposals, and partnership prospects.
Contribute innovative ideas to enhance KEPSA fundraising strategies
Assist in compiling data, case studies, and success stories to strengthen proposals.
Support the development (drafting and editing) of high-quality funding proposals, concept notes, and grant applications.
2. Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
Assist in identifying and mapping potential partners, including donors, private sector actors, and development agencies.
Support the coordination of partnership meetings, events, and follow-ups.
Draft partnership briefs, meeting notes, and stakeholder engagement reports.
3. Program Implementation Support
Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of SME training, mentorship, and networking activities
Support the documentation of success stories and lessons learned.
Monitor and document participants feedback, and outcomes from activities.
4. Communication & Documentation
Draft reports, presentations, and communication materials for internal and external audiences.
Support the development of knowledge products, insight papers, etc.
Maintain organized records of proposals, program documents, and partner documentation.
5. Administrative & Logistical Support
Assist in organizing meetings, events, and field visits.
Provide general administrative support assigned by the SME Team
Qualifications
The selected candidate should have the following qualifications:
A recent graduate (within the last 3 years) with a degree in Business Development, Economics, Development Studies, Project Management, Communications, or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience in proposal writing, fundraising, or business development, preferably in a development or private sector context.
Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
Demonstrated creativity and innovation in problem-solving or project design.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders,
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with tools like Canva, Google Workspace, or CRM systems is an added advantage.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
