Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess:

  1. An earned PhD in the relevant field from a recognized university:
  • PhD in Old Testament Studies;
  • PhD in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related field;
  • PhD in Religious Studies or related discipline.
  1. A Master’s degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant field from an accredited institution;
  2. A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized university;
  • KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent qualification;
  1. Minimum of twelve (12) years of university teaching, research, and academic leadership experience, including at least three (3) years at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent;
  2. Distinguished record of scholarly publications and recognized contributions in the relevant field;
  3. Successful supervision of Master’s and PhD students to completion;
  • Evidence of successful acquisition, management, and implementation of research, consultancy, or development grants from recognized funding agencies;
  • Meets the University requirements for appointment and promotion to the rank of Professor;
  1. Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body where applicable;
  2. Ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church;
  3. Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing;
  • Demonstrated commitment to Adventist philosophy of education, mission, and values;
  • Ability to integrate faith and learning in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, E-Learning platforms, Internet applications, and relevant statistical software.


Responsibilities
  1. Provide academic and research leadership within the Department, School, and University;

    ii. Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students;

    iii. Develop, review, and evaluate academic programmes;

    iv. Supervise Master’s and PhD research projects and theses;

    v. Lead curriculum development, quality assurance, and accreditation initiatives;

    vi. Conduct and publish high-quality research in reputable peer-reviewed journals;

    vii. Mentor faculty members and postgraduate students;

    viii. Prepare, administer, moderate, and mark examinations;

    ix. Participate in strategic planning and policy formulation;

    x. Represent the University in academic, professional, church, and community engagements;

    xi. Mobilize resources and support research, consultancy, and grant-funded initiatives;

    xii. Participate in academic administration and institutional governance;

    xiii. Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
