Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, and skills-based sessions in Public Health to graduate and undergraduate students as allocated.
- Provide technical assistance in the design, development, review, and implementation of curricula and syllabi.
- Develop, moderate, and administer Examinations
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students
- Participate in internal and external moderation processes of university examinations
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and University committees.
- Support in developing work plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Contribute to quality assurance and accreditation processes for training resources and practice sites.
- Mentor junior academic staff, including graduate assistants, tutorial fellows, visiting lecturers, and adjunct faculty.
- Represent the department at academic and public engagements; and stakeholders forums
- Provide technical assistance in developing training guidelines, policies, and business plans.
- Support student recruitment, orientation, and onboarding at the departmental/school level.
- Conduct independent and collaborative research within an area of specialization.
- Apply for and manage research and health development grants.
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at academic conferences and seminars.
- Supervise postgraduate researchers (Master’s and PhD candidates) in proposal writing, thesis development and examination.
- Undertake identification of supervisors and examiners.
- Undertake accreditation, audits, and quality assurance activities
- Participate in departmental, school, and University committees, and support in planning and budgeting.
Qualifications
- PhD in Public Health (Health Management/Informatics/ Health Economics) or a health related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Training in Health Informatics or Health Records or Health Management
- Registered with the relevant professional body, where applicable.
- Demonstrated evidence of postgraduate supervision and independent/collaborative research.
- Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
Experience and Knowledge
- At least five (5) years of university teaching experience in Public Health at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, development, and review.
- Demonstrated experience in postgraduate supervision (Master’s and/or PhD students).
- Experience reviewing postgraduate proposals, theses, and dissertations, and serving on academic committees.
- Experience in quality assurance, curriculum review, or accreditation is an added advantage.
- Sound knowledge of research methodology, research ethics, and academic integrity requirements.
- Familiarity with postgraduate policies, examination procedures, and higher education regulatory standards.
