Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must possess:

  1. An earned PhD in the relevant field from a recognized university:
  • PhD in Old Testament Studies;
  • PhD in Systematic Theology, Historical Theology, or related field;
  • PhD in Religious Studies or related discipline.
  1. A Master’s degree with a minimum average score of B+ or equivalent in the relevant field;
  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Upper Division or a minimum GPA of 3.0 from a recognized university;
  1. KCSE mean grade of C+ or equivalent qualification;
  2. Minimum of six (6) years of university teaching experience, including at least three (3) years at Lecturer level or equivalent;
  3. Evidence of sustained scholarly research and publications in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Experience in postgraduate supervision and student mentorship;
  • Meets the University requirements for appointment and promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer;
  1. Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable;
  2. Ordained minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church;
  3. Active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in regular standing;
  • Demonstrated commitment to Adventist education and values;
  • Ability to integrate faith and learning in accordance with the philosophy, mission, and values of Seventh-day Adventist higher education;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, E-Learning platforms, Internet applications, and relevant statistical software.


Responsibilities
  1. Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students;

    ii. Develop client-driven quality academic programmes;

    iii. Promote the mission of the Department and the University;

    iv. Conduct quality research and scholarly publications;

    v. Mentor students and junior faculty in research activities;

    vi. Develop teaching materials and learning resources;

    vii. Participate in the development of University policies and academic documentation;

    viii. Set, moderate, process, and mark examinations;

    ix. Present research papers at seminars, workshops, and conferences;

    x. Advise the Head of Department and Dean on curriculum development and academic matters;

    xi. Participate in departmental and School meetings and activities;

    xii. Assist in supervising Assistant Lecturers and Tutorial Fellows;

    xiii. Serve as an Academic Adviser to students;

    xiv. Supervise postgraduate students in research activities;

    xv. Participate in outreach, church, and community engagement programmes;

    xvi. Perform any other duties assigned by the University Management.
