Job details

Contract Type

Description

The Entrepreneurship Promotion in Somalia (EPIS) project seeks to enhance women's economic participation in Somalia, with a specific focus on the regions of Kismayo and Baidoa.

Somalia faces significant challenges in achieving inclusive economic growth, stemming from prolonged conflict, political instability, and deeply rooted social norms that limit women’s roles in the economy. Despite these barriers, women are central to community survival and resilience, particularly in informal sectors. However, their contributions are often under-recognized, and they encounter significant obstacles, including limited access to finance, business opportunities, and market information.

EPIS works to improve the economic performance of women-led small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and encourages service providers to adopt gender-sensitive approaches that address women’s specific needs. Beyond this, the project seeks to shift societal attitudes by highlighting the contributions of women entrepreneurs and showcasing decision-makers who champion gender equality in the economy.

The internship provides students with practical experience in project administration, monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge management within an international development context.
