Description
- Project Brief description
To address this, the project works with AU-IBAR, ILRI, the Alliance of Biodiversity International and CIAT, and international financial institutions such as the AfDB, World Bank, and IFAD to align policies and financing towards sustainable livestock systems. Its interventions focus on four priority areas: (i) advancing advocacy and agenda setting to connect national, regional, and global processes, including climate negotiations; (ii) strengthening institutional and technical capacities of African actors to design and implement sustainable livestock strategies; (iii) promoting global and regional knowledge exchange, networking, and South-South cooperation, particularly with Latin America; and (iv) mobilizing climate finance and providing advisory and technical support to unlock resources and remove barriers to investment. Through this comprehensive approach, the project aims to reduce the climate footprint of livestock, halt biodiversity loss, and enhance ecosystem services while safeguarding livelihoods.
