On Behalf of our client a leading Bread manufacture in Thika, We are looking for Van Sales Representative.The idea Candidate will be responsible for the distribution and sale of bread products along assigned routes, ensuring timely deliveries, achievement of daily sales targets, proper crate management, accurate cash reconciliation, and development of new retail outlets.

Qualifications

  1. Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or related field.

  2. Minimum 2 years’ FMCG sales experience, preferably bakery/bread distribution.

  3. Experience as a van salesman or route sales representative is an added advantage.

  4. Clean sales record from previous employers.

Technical Skills

  1. Strong communication and customer relationship skills

  2. Route planning and time management

  3. Basic numeracy and sales reconciliation skills

  4. Understanding of FMCG distribution

  5. Basic use of mobile sales or reporting systems

Physical Requirements

  1. Frequent travel within assigned sales route.

  2. Ability to lift bread crates (approx. 5 kg).

  3. Ability to work early mornings and weekends when required.




Responsibilities

1. Bread Sales & Route Performance

  • Sell and distribute bread products along the assigned route.

  • Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly bread sales targets.

  • Ensure all issued bread stock is accounted for through sales or authorized returns.

  • Identify and onboard new retail outlets to grow route sales.

2. Delivery & Product Handling

  • Load bread into the sales van and deliver according to the route plan.

  • Ensure bread is handled hygienically to maintain freshness and quality.

  • Confirm deliveries with signed invoices or delivery notes.

3. Cash Collection & Reconciliation

  • Collect payments via cash, mobile money, or cheque as per company policy.

  • Reconcile daily sales, stock issued, and payments collected.

  • Submit all collections and sales records to the office daily.

4. Crate Management

  • Deliver bread using company crates and track all crates issued.

  • Collect empty crates from customers during delivery.

  • Reconcile crates issued vs returned and report discrepancies.

5. Customer Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with retailers and distributors.

  • Respond to customer complaints and escalate when necessary.

  • Monitor customer demand and ensure adequate supply.

6. Market Development

  • Identify new sales opportunities within the route.

  • Monitor competitor pricing and promotions.

  • Promote the company’s bread products and brand visibility.

7. Reporting by Maintain accurate daily records of:

  • Bread stock issued

  • Sales made

  • Cash collections

  • Debtors

  • Crates issued and returned

  • Submit daily route sales reports and reconciliations
