Description

Required Qualifications & Experience (Minimum)

  1. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in social work, Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights, Development Studies, or related field.
  2. At least 1–2 years of experience in protection monitoring, community mobilization, or humanitarian programming.
  3. Experience working in conflict-affected or humanitarian contexts, preferably in Northeast Nigeria.
  4. Basic understanding of protection principles, community-based protection, and referral pathways.
  5. Experience conducting community mobilization, awareness sessions, or protection monitoring activities.
  6. Good documentation and reporting skills.
Responsibilities
Protection Monitoring & Field Implementation
  1. Conduct regular protection monitoring visits to targeted communities to identify protection risks, vulnerabilities, and emerging trends.
  2. Support the collection and documentation of protection monitoring data using FRAD-approved tools.
  3. Identify protection concerns affecting vulnerable populations including women, children, older persons, and persons with disabilities.

Community Mobilization & Engagement

  1. Mobilize community members to participate in protection awareness sessions and community dialogues.
  2. Establish and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, women’s groups, youth groups, and community volunteers.
  3. Support community-based protection structures such as community protection committees and focal points.

Case Identification & Referral

  1. Identify individuals at risk of protection violations during field visits and community engagement activities.
  2. Facilitate safe and confidential referrals to relevant service providers including:
  3. GBV service providers

Protection Awareness & Capacity Building

  1. Support community sensitization sessions on topics including:
  2. Protection risks and prevention of violence
  3. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) awareness
  4. Child protection and safeguarding

Reporting, Documentation & Coordination

  1. Maintain accurate documentation of protection monitoring findings, community activities, and referrals.
  2. Contribute to weekly and monthly field reports by providing timely updates on protection concerns and community engagement activities.
  3. Share emerging protection risks and community feedback with the Protection Officer or Protection Manager.
  4. Participate in internal coordination meetings and protection sector activities when required.
