Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or related field.

· Certification as a hospital or medical librarian is an added advantage.

· Familiarity with health science databases and electronic resource systems.

· Proficient in using digital library systems, CRM tools, and educational platforms.

Experience

· 2 to 5 years’ progressive experience in a hospital, university, or health sciences library.

· Experience in medical or academic environments with customer service responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Library Operations and Collection Management

· Assist in managing and maintaining the organization’s medical library collection, including books, journals, digital media, and databases.

· Organize and catalog library materials according to current standards and practices.

· Ensure databases and systems are updated regularly to keep content current and accurate.

Information Access and Support

· Support medical professionals, researchers, and students in conducting literature searches and using library resources.

· Register the institution on relevant research and educational repositories to expand access to knowledge bases.

· Provide support in organizing and issuing library materials such as books, films, and digital files.

Instruction and Training

· Conduct training sessions on the effective use of library databases and digital resources.

· Collaborate with the librarian to develop instructional materials and user guides.

· Provide support in evidence-based practice research and educational programming.

Policy and Development

· Assist in the development and implementation of library policies and procedures.

· Participate in library strategic planning and resource development.

· Stay informed about trends in health information management, medical librarianship, and digital library tools.
