The primary role of the Communications Officer is to nurture a strong media industry network, increase awareness and develop an enviable corporate image for URU by developing and executing effective communication and media relations programs and 360-degree communications and content plan.
Requirements
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising or a related discipline.
- Additional qualifications (Desirable): Postgraduate/certificate in communication related field
- One year of experience in a busy Public Relations and Communication environment.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and can delegate effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong planning ability with excellent organizational skills
- Ability and willingness to work outside of normal hours including evening and weekends.
- Ability to manage a group of participants effectively.
- Proven working experience in public relations required.
- Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at both a local and national level.
- Strong relationships with both local and national federations,
- Government and industry media outlets.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Solid experience with social media including blogs, Facebook, X platform, etc.
- Event planning experience
