Qualifications and experience:
1. Must have a PhD Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from a recognized institution of higher learning.
2. Must have a Masters in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from a recognized institution of higher learning.
3. Must have a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution of higher learning. A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery will be an added advantage.
4. Must have completed a Specialist Training in the area of Molecular Biology or Biotechnology and willing to grow over the next five years.
5. Must have taught at university level for at least three (3) years at the rank of Lecturer.
6. Must have published at least two (2) new scholarly articles in internationally recognized journals in their area of academic expertise.
7. Must be registered or eligible for full registration with Allied Health Professionals Council.
8. Should demonstrate commitment to Medical research.
9. Must be a person of high integrity.
10. Must be a committed and practicing Christian.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Participate in course administration and instruction for the Medical school curriculum.
2. Develop and delivers an integrated curriculum, which blends basic science and clinical concepts, in collaboration with faculty members in other disciplines.
3. Employ multiple teaching methods including case-based instruction, large and small group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, team-based learning and distance education.
4. Provide formative and summative assessment of undergraduate and post-graduate Medical student performance.
5. Provide individual support, feedback, and advice to Medical students.
6. Work closely with the course and curriculum committees, fellow faculty, and key administrators to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Medical school’s curriculum.
7. Engage in scholarship and academically-related public service.
8. Supervising student Molecular Biology sessions, treatment plans, and competences; acting as a clinical academic advisor and/or undergraduate restorative portfolio supervisor, as requested by the Head of Department.
9. Actively engage in research in Molecular Biology, or a related field, within developing UCUSoM research themes.
10. Provide support to research internally and externally by attending and presenting at relevant meetings.
11. Engage in publication of original material (reviews, case studies, research results).
