Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
Oversee the general ledger, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
Financial Control & Compliance
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
Coordinate tax filings, regulatory reporting, and external audits.
Monitor financial risks and recommend control improvements.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support business decisions.
Monitor operating costs and recommend opportunities for cost optimization.
Inventory Management & Stock Control
Maintain financial accuracy of inventory records
Lead periodic stock counts (monthly, quarterly, or annual) and reconciles physical inventory with system records. Investigate variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with audit team to design and enforce internal control procedures to prevent stock losses, theft, misstatements, and unauthorized adjustments. Ensure segregation of duties between storekeeping, procurement, and finance.
Apply appropriate costing methods (FIFO, Weighted Average, etc.) and ensure consistent valuation of inventory in line with accounting standards and company policy.
Customer & Branch Reconciliations
Ensure financial transactions between branches and the head office—such as stock transfers, cash remittances, expenses, and revenue postings—are accurately captured and aligned in the accounting system.
Review and reconcile customer ledgers to ensure all invoices, payments, credit notes, and adjustments are correctly recorded. Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
Prepare reconciliation summaries, aging reports, and exception reports to support management decisions and highlight areas requiring attention.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff where applicable.
Improve accounting processes and promote operational efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. ICAN, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is highly preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, preferably within the manufacturing or FMCG sector.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and internal controls.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
