Education & Experience Required
- University degree in medicine, nursing or midwifery
- Postgraduate master’s degree/diploma in public health or health management is a strong asset.
- Fluent English and fluent local working language (Hausa).
- Valid license to practice in her/his own country.
- Good computer skills-MS word, Excel.
- 3 to 5 years of total work experience (including 2 years of clinical experience) with minimum 2 years’ experience in the humanitarian sector an asset.
- Good connections with local health authorities or groups of interest for the ICRC.
- Excellent knowledge of the assigned geographic area.
Responsibilities
- Understands the health structure/politics and culture in AoR and advises his/her line manager.
- Works closely with the Deputy Health coordinator or Health Delegate to plan and implement health activities under their area of responsibilities.
- Participates in assessment, contributes to preparation of project proposals and reports.
- Contribute to all health programs in their AoR as required (PHCC, Hospital Nutrition stabilization centers, community nutrition PHEC/First Aid).
- Conducts regular monitoring and supportive supervision visits to the ICRC supported health facilities, and community nutrition when required, identifies and addresses problems in close collaboration with the SMoH staff.
- Ensures that guidelines, protocols and SoPs related to the supported programs and activities are available and up to date.
- Ensures rational and appropriate use of supplies (equipment, drugs, consumables, nutrition commodities) as per national standards.
- Organizes and supports relevant trainings for ICRC supported health facilities staff and target groups from communities in ICRC AoRs.
- Develops and promotes Health Care in Danger-related initiatives in collaboration with Protection and ensures that Health Care in Danger is included in all trainings and health events.
- Maintains regular contact and dialogue with relevant interlocutors at State, LGA, and community and conducts quarterly joint monitoring visit with LGA Health/SPHCDB authorities.
- Ensures proper data collection, analysis, appropriate management of information and reporting.
- Ensures referral pathway is defined for the ICRC beneficiaries including sexual violence survivors.
- Collaborate with the ABJ and field nutrition team to monitor the nutrition situation for children under 5 (6-59 months) and pregnant and lactating women (PLW).
