Job Summary

i. Be in a possession of a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree from a recognized Institution including Meat Inspection.
ii. Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board and
iii. Have a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized Institution.
iv. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on Leadership and Integrity.
a) Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation
b) Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
c) Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
d) Clearance from the Ethics &Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
e) Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)


i.    Inspect and grade various types and cuts of meat.
ii.    Inspect live animals, game or poultry for any signs of disease.
iii.    Making sure that unfit meat is destroyed properly.
iv.    Conduct post mortem examinations on diseased animals.
v.    Examine samples for bacterial or non-desirable excess material.
vi.    Prepare reports from test results.
vii.    Observe Employees and daily procedures to assure Standards are met
viii.    Send animal tissue to lab for testing.
ix.    Perform quality control analysis including tests and inspections of products and processes.
x.     Serve as the on-site liaison with regulatory officials, safety inspectors, compliance auditors and other external personnel.
xi.     Manage and perform daily pre-operational, operational and mid-shift clean maintenance inspections and tours by utilizing visual cues and observations and microbiological analysis.
xii.    Assure and ensure strict adherence and compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
xiii.    Manage Vendor Certification program.
xiv.    Direct and perform shelf life and other inventory-related studies for product quality and safety, material freshness, aging, molding, and preservation.

Required education: Bachelor's degree
Required relevant work experience: 3 years
Required languages: English (Spoken: fluent | Written: fluent)
