The Opportunity

A Magnatec Business Analyst is a dynamic individual who has a good technical background and is looking to work in a customer facing,analyst role. The position will report to an Implementation Manager within theProfessional Services team and will work with various clients of the company.


The successful candidate will have strong inter-personal skills and be mature and confident when dealing with high level client executives. We are looking for an individual who will proactively seek solutions for our clients' various issues. As there are continuous engagements with our clients, the position requires an individual who is comfortable and confident when working remotely or on-site with our customers.


The ideal candidate has a strong balance between technical background and business experience. The analyst would work with the guidance of the Implementation manager and take ownership of the quality and success of business software deployment.

1. Software Implementation

  • Decipher client requirements with the Solution architect and configure the front-end software to address requirements.

  • Coding knowledge is not necessary for implementation, but a good problem-solving approach is required.

2. Support activities

  • Work independently and proactively to manage and resolve customer issues, and to ensure a positive customer experience

  • Manage issue escalation and resource scheduling to resolution

3. Customer Management

  • Maintain customer communication, and regularly update Implementation manager and customer

  • Manage customer expectations regarding issue priority, resolution time and workaround acceptance.

  • Proactively communicate with customers to ensure a positive experience

4. Diagnostic and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Have a problem-solving approach to understanding the customer's business and translating them to solutions within the software.

  • Be resourceful in leveraging internal knowledgebase, technical resources, and external research to find solutions.

5. Documentation

  • Accurately document client solutions for handover and closure

  • Document customer interactions related to implementations and software support for future reference and knowledge transfer


In summary, the Business Analyst is responsible for the following:

• Be involved in all aspects of software implementations

• Successful Solution roll-out

• Client training

• Manage multiple concurrent projects

• Up sell opportunities with existing clients


Required Qualifications and Traits

  1. Must have at least 1-3 years Software/Finance work experience

  2. Working knowledge of accounting or financial applications (ERPs) is an asset

  3. A Bachelor degree/diploma in Computer Science, IT, together with Accounting/Finance exposure.

  4. Experience and study of MySQL, MS SQL, and other database systems in an asset

  5. Superior communication and presentation skills

  6. Strong organizational ability is required as the candidate may be required to manage multiple projects concurrently

  7. Must have strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and logically resolve customer problems using experience, good judgment, and acquired knowledge of the Software

  8. Must be comfortable working in a project environment interacting with senior level executives including CFOs, VPs and other departmental staff

  9. Comprehension of financial concepts/ terminology is required
