GIZ is a federally owned enterprise operating worldwide, assisting the German Government in achieving its policy objectives in the field of international cooperation. It offers demand-driven,
tailor-made and effective services for sustainable development worldwide. In Tanzania and across the region GIZ supports the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the EAC in attaining their development goals.
The Good Financial Governance (GFG) project in Tanzania is a technical assistance programme
commissioned by the Federal Government of Germany and co-financed by Switzerland and the European Union (EU). The GFG project supports the government of Tanzania in implementing
public finance reforms, focusing on four key areas: 1) enhancing administrative capacity for revenue collection at both local and national levels, 2) strengthening budget control, 3) improving fiscal policy and transparency, and 4) supporting public finance reform in Zanzibar.
The GFG Programme is seeking interns to support the programme’s activities in supporting the
government of Tanzania to effectively raise revenues at both the local level and national level while spending the government’s revenues in a more efficient, accountable, and transparent manner.
Responsibilities
· Provide general support on all ongoing activities of the programme.
· Assist in project coordination, implementation, and monitoring activities.
· Support documentation, report preparation, and record-keeping of project activities. This includes drafting correspondences, recording of meeting minutes, and communication materials.
· Recording of minutes of all team meetings and wider technical meetings with donors and partners.
· Assist the team in coordinating logistics for organizing workshops, meetings, and events.
· Communicate with relevant stakeholders, partners, and donors as requested.
· Support monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities through research and gathering data to support project activities.
· Assist in proposal writing and donor reporting.
· Performing any other related duties as assigned to support the effective delivery of projects.
Qualifications, competences, and requirements.
· Bachelor’s degree in development studies, International Relations, Public Administration, Social Sciences,
Project Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Proficiency in report writing.
· Prior experience (volunteer or internship) in program or project support will be an advantage.
· Must be a citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Other knowledge, additional competences
· Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Swahili.
· Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines in a fairly fast-paced environment.
· Good intercultural skills, experience in working in an international or office context, excellent cooperation and coordination skills and strategic thinking skills.
· Good team player, ability to work independently, and grasp new topics and knowledge areas quickly.
