Position Summary:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for leading and scaling Afstor Energy Limited’s operational activities in Kenya. The role combines strategic leadership with strong hands-on operational management across manufacturing, logistics, installations, after-sales service, partner coordination and organizational development. The COO will ensure efficient execution of the company’s growth strategy, including large-scale deployment programs, financing partner coordination, operational process development and assembly line scaling
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee day-to-day operations of Afstor Energy Limited in Kenya
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company growth objectives
- Establish scalable operational systems, procedures and reporting structures
- Ensure operational efficiency, quality control and continuous process improvement
- Provide high-level operational oversight and strategic support for assembly and production operations together with the Production Manager.
- Work closely with the Production Manager on production scaling, operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives while delegating day-to-day production supervision to the Production Manager.
- Ensure production targets, timelines and quality standards are achieved
- Coordinate inventory planning and material availability with procurement and logistics teams
- Coordinate inbound shipments, customs clearance and local logistics operations
- Manage warehousing and inventory control processes
- Ensure timely distribution of products and installation materials
- Oversee nationwide installation activities and operational scheduling
- Ensure quality and consistency of installations and client onboarding
- Develop scalable after-sales support and maintenance structures
- Lead, mentor and develop operational teams
- Support recruitment, onboarding and organizational development
- Build a performance-driven and accountable operational culture
- Develop operational reporting systems and KPI tracking
- Monitor installation volumes, operational costs, service quality and efficiency metrics
- Prepare operational reports for management, investors and strategic partners
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum 7–10 years of operational leadership experience
- Experience in renewable energy, manufacturing, logistics or industrial operations is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of supply chain management and field operations
- Experience working in fast-growth or startup environments is an advantage
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent operational planning and execution capabilities
- Process-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
