HI has been present in Kenya since 1992 implementing interventions on Health and Rehabilitation, Social and

Economic Inclusion, Inclusive Education, Protection, and Inclusive Humanitarian Action. HI implements project within

the Dadaab Refugee Camp and host communities in Garissa Region, Kakuma Refugee Camp & Kalobeyei Settlement

Scheme, Turkana West Region, and greater Nairobi.

The "Inclusive Lifesaving and Disability Support" project provides essential rehabilitation and protection services to

vulnerable displaced persons, including children and women with disabilities, in Kenya’s Dadaab and Kakuma camps.

Designed to counter severe humanitarian funding cuts, the initiative aims to prevent health decline and mortality

while restoring independence for 5,000 individuals. Key deliverables include distributing 266 assistive devices,

training community health workers for case referrals, and establishing accessible feedback mechanisms for 75% of the

target population to ensure dignity and survival.

Reporting to the Project Supervisor, the Physiotherapy Project Officer supports the implementation of Humanity &

Inclusion’s 10-year strategy. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality project delivery and impact, working in

close collaboration with the program’s technical team to meet the mandate's objectives.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities

Clinical Intervention : Deliver life-saving, facility-based physiotherapy through individualized assessments and tailored treatment plans. This focuses on enhancing mobility, self-care, and independence, ensuring beneficiaries can access essential services (e.g., food and healthcare) while preventing secondary complications like contractures or pressure sores.

Supervision & Caregiver Support : Guide Community Rehabilitation Workers (CRWs) in providing homebased training for caregivers. This includes instructing families on mobility assistance, basic exercises, and daily care routines to ensure continuity of care and prevent condition deterioration outside the clinic.

System Strengthening & Coordination : Build the capacity of frontline health workers to identify and refer cases, strengthening the local health system. Additionally, represent the project in inter-agency platforms to align with sector standards, manage robust referral pathways, and ensure data collection complies with Humanity and Inclusion policies.




Operational Implementation & Project Management



Activity Planning: Collaborate with technical and support units to prepare tools, resources, and action plans,

ensuring all activities align with established project frameworks.


Resource Management: Execute project activities and ensure the optimal allocation of resources as

authorized by the Project Manager.


Reporting & Documentation: Provide regular updates and contribute to internal and external reporting;

ensure all project data and documents are systematically archived.




Adaptive Management: Monitor project progress to identify necessary adjustments, propose adaptations,

and support the drafting of formal amendment requests

Stakeholder Coordination: Maintain active communication with local partners and stakeholders to monitor

and strengthen partnership relationships.




Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)



Performance Tracking: Monitor activity progress indicators and outcomes to ensure the project meets its

expected impact.




Evaluation & Learning: Support project evaluations, implement resulting recommendations, and contribute

to a culture of continuous learning and accountability.



Data Management



Systems Oversight: Ensure the correct use of data collection tools in line with global standards.



Data Integrity: Collect, compile, and manage project-related data within the relevant databases to ensure

accuracy and accessibility.




Team Coordination & Communication



Internal Synergy: Facilitate coordination between project teams, technical services, and support

departments to ensure smooth implementation.




External Representation: Enhance HI’s influence by participating in relevant networks and communicating

project goals to authorities and partners.



Emergency Preparedness and Response



• Contribute to the programme’s emergency preparedness initiatives, and in an emergency situation, adapt

his/her working arrangements in order to contribute to an effective humanitarian response from HI
