Job Summary

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Maps Validation Associates to ensure the

accuracy, completeness, and quality of Points of Interest (POI) data collected by earners in the

field. In this role, you will perform desk-based QC validation of submitted POI entries using

trusted web sources, internal tools, and established SOPs.This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy structured workflows, web research, data verification, and maintaining high quality standards in large-scale mapping operations.




Key Responsibilities:

  • POI Quality Control & Verification

  • Validate POI data submitted by earners, ensuring accuracy of attributes such as name, address, category, coordinates, hours, and operational status.

  • Cross-check POI attributes using trusted online sources (official websites, verified social profiles, government registries, reputable news sources).

  • Confirm whether POIs are operational, permanently closed, duplicates, or incorrectly categorized.

  • Data Accuracy & Consistency

  • Identify and correct data issues including incorrect coordinates, category mismatches, formatting issues, and incomplete submissions.

  • Ensure adherence to mapping guidelines, classification rules, and metadata standards.

  • Workflow Compliance & Documentation

  • Follow all SOPs, validation frameworks, and QC workflows consistently.

  • Document findings, maintain audit logs, and provide clear notes for earners or downstream teams.

Performance & Productivity

  • Meet defined accuracy, throughput, and SLA targets.

  • Maintain a high level of focus and independence while working remotely.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (preferably in Geography, Information

  • Systems, Data Science, GIS, or related field).

  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to detect inconsistencies and anomalies i data.

  • Strong skills in web research and source verification.

  • Basic understanding of mapping concepts, POIs, or navigation systems.

  • Proficient with Google Sheets / Excel, web tools, and data entry systems.

  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to articulate validation decisions clearly.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting with reliable internet connectivity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in data validation, quality assurance, annotation.

  • Familiarity with mapping tools (OpenStreetMap, Mapillary, Street View, etc.) or geocoding concepts.

  • Understanding of business categories, local commerce structures, and POI attribute standards.

  • Prior experience in mapping operations, location-based data workflows, or GI support.
