Key Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution;
  • A Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines; Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution as an added advantage;
  • Have Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education;
  • At least eight (8) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been in a supervisory position in the Public Service/Private Sector;
  • Attended Supervisory Course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Have been Admitted as an advocate of the High Court Kenya;
  • Have valid practicing certificate;
  • Proficiency in ICT; and
  • Demonstrated professional competence in work performance and results.

  • Providing legal advice to be taken by the Authority.
  • Drawing up contracts, agreements and other legal documents;
  • Undertaking research on different information to ensure that the Authority is acting in accordance with all applicable laws;
  • Preparing Quarterly Legal Reports; 
  • Preparing Board Resolutions, Action Points, Board Reports and Board Minutes;
  • Identifying legal and compliance risks and issues relative to the Board’s intended actions;
  • Managing the risk exposure of the Authority by ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements;
  • Liaising with external lawyers on all cases filed against the Authority to ensure instructions, witnesses and statements are procured on time;
  • Working with external lawyers to initiate lawsuits or to formulate a defense, to gather evidence in legal proceedings involving the Board and rendering general advice relating to any legal proceedings involving the Board; and
  • Representing the Authority in litigation matters.
