  • You have 4-6 years of post qualification legal practice experience at a law firm or an international company
  • You have completed your bar exams in one of the African jurisdictions in which Bolt operates or in a Commonwealth country
  • You have practical experience that ranges across commercial law, corporate law, dispute resolution, employment, consumer protection, competition law and intellectual property
  • You are well at home with legal aspects of marketing, privacy, intellectual property, consumer protection and the gig economy
  • You are organised. You deliver your work on time
  • You are creative, collaborative with a can-do attitude
  • You are flexible and open to dynamic environments


Responsibilities

  • Providing professional, timely and accurate business oriented legal support internally;
  • Identifying, monitoring and minimizing legal, regulatory and litigation risk and recommending appropriate policies, practices, and procedures across Legal Risk and Procurement team and Bolt;
  • Demonstrate technical legal expertise on projects showing a high degree of thought and critical analysis to identify root causes of the issues. Provide with appropriate legal options back to the client stakeholder in a presentation manner that is concise and effective to read;
  • Align skill and expertise profile with the Global Field Team Job Levelling Guide for calibration of expected quality standards and responsibilities of a legal counsel;
  • Proactive approach within Legal Risk and Procurement team as well as Global Field Team in order to advise colleagues across team on market-specific updates, escalations, increased risks and liabilities by using all forums applicable at Bolt (Slack, team meetings, emails, 1:1 and skip-level meetings);
  • Daily legal support to the assigned Bolt markets’ local subsidiaries and relevant local operations’ teams and senior team members, as the case may be, including but not limited to corporate law, employment law, commercial law and litigation;
  • Meeting the provided quarterly and/or annual budget for external law firms for local specific advice in given markets by managing the scope and instructions to the external law firms in a concise manner;
  • Draft and review commercial contracts, internal policies and procedures as instructed by senior team members and/or direct manager;
  • With the support and under supervision of senior team members, providing legal support for the expansion to new markets, including arranging completion of expansion questionnaires, internal assessment of thereof and managing the assigned budget for completing the task;
  • Legal support in implementing new products and features in relevant markets;
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments in areas relevant to Bolt’s products in the assigned markets;
