Requirements
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Economics; or Transport Economics; or Business Administration; or Development Studies; or Education; or Social Sciences; or Law; or Arts; or Public Administration; or Statistics or Engineering; or Transport and Logistics; from a recognised University or Institution and a Postgraduate qualification in Transport Economics and Logistics Management or Logistics and Transport Management or Business Administration or any other Transport Related Field.
Registration with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board is a must for Engineers.

- Reviewing laws and regulations which govern rail transport so as to enhance safety, efficiency and equity in services and identifying gaps for amendment;
- Assisting in the initiation and development of policies and strategies in order to promote safety of rail transport;
- Collecting, analysing and disseminating data on rail transport;
- Managing preparation and updating of data on rail transport;
- Domesticating Regional and International conventions, treaties, agreements and protocols on rail transport;
- Preparing progress reports on the performance of the Section;
- Coordinating budget preparation activities of the Section;
- Overseeing sensitization programs on safety and discipline in rail transport services;
- Processing Rail Operator’s Licences
- Monitoring enforcement of laws and regulations on rail transport;
- Managing staff and assets of the Section.
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
