Requirements

  • Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; or Economics; or Law; or Business Administration; or Arts; or Social Sciences and a Post graduate qualification in Transport Management from a recognized University/Institution. In case of Engineers, they should be registered with the Engineers’ Registration Board
  • Being registered with a recognised professional body or being a professional member of a recognized Institution of Transport is an added advantage for the non-Engineering cadre.


  • Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been served at the level of Principal Inspector Rail Transport in Government


  • Responsibilities

    Requirements

  • - Initiating and developing policies and strategies to promote safety of rail transport;

    - Formulating and reviewing railway transport legislation;

    - Monitoring and advising on effective enforcement of railway transport legislation;

    - Coordinating public sensitization programs about safety and discipline in rail transport services;

    - Coordinating formulation and implementation of bilateral, regional and international conventions, treaties, agreements and programs related to railway transport regulation in collaboration with the Division of Road and Pipeline;

    - Overseeing inspection of railway lines and railway rollingstock;

    - Coordinating investigations into rail transport accidents and advising on mitigation measures;

    - Managing staff and assets of the Division;

    - Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
