Food for the Hungry was founded in 1971 by Dr. Larry Ward. Like many of us, he felt pain for the thousands of children dying each day from hunger. After praying, he held to the simple premise that “they die one at a time, and so we can help them one at a time.” Here are highlights of Food for the Hungry’s history from relief work in 1971 to our present work with people like you who sponsor a child.
